Our church has some extra property, and it was decided by the congregation that it should be turned into a park. There would be a play area with a baseball field for church-related youth sports. The adults thought they might like to form a team, too. To create a covered area for our church picnic where everyone could meet together, we resorted to an Indiana pole barn building. In Indiana a pole barn building is one of the cheapest ways to create a covered structure. Unlike the name indicates, its purpose can be used for so much more than just a barn. Our pole barn structure was going to consist of poles fixed perpendicularly to concrete, with a huge roof covering overhead. It would not have any fancy doors or walls, but it would offer general protection from the blasting sun and rain in the summertime. I am glad that the church is making good use of the congregations funds to do something as enriching as encouraging more outdoor activities. I am very pleased with the use of the land, and it did not cost very much in the end to fund the project. The pole barn building was an inexpensive solution to our outdoor meeting location.
